The return of Mr 10%

BBC News: Bhutto's widower wins presidency

Perhaps it seems surpising given that the new president of Pakistan has been in jail for corruption, was known as Mr 10% on account of his fiscal sticky fingers and has Pro-American views that are wildly out of step with the Pakistani electorate.

Nevertheless, I think it is a positve move. Ali Zardari is pro-western, opposed to Islamicism and leads a secular party that has been supportive of the rights of religious minorities in Pakistan.

I must confess though, his mustache does give him a rather sinister look.
