Elephant Celebs by Max Ernst

Just in case anyone was getting sick of all these sentimental angels, here is something a bit different.

What a menacing image!

It looks a bit like a huge vacuum cleaner, but imagine cleaning your house with that.

The elephant is a sort of machine/ animal hybrid. It is distinctly masculine.

It is lead by the headless naked woman. It advances towards her without reflection or passion. It is an animalistic sexuality. It moves towards her body without regard to her lack of a head.

It is not an attractive image.

God created sex to be enjoyed in marriage. Sex without marriage, without love, without regard to God's order is a dangerous thing.

Western society has over the years increasingly tolerated and encouraged sexuality outside of God's created system of love and marriage. We see the carnage of this in unhappiness, misery, depression, unwanted pregnancy and abortion and sexually transmitted illness.

The world created by the sexual revolution is as menacing as the metal elephant in the picture.

yes! So true! You are becoming quite an art critic, Matthew.

Thanks, but I am sure an art critic could have said some cleverer stuff than that.

I think it is more about the First World War and his war experience...

Congrats you have totally missed the inner truth of this image.
