Times Online: Wouldn’t you feel safer with a gun?

article by Richard Munday

For once an article that rejects the consensus on guns.

I do feel safer with a gun.
'Course, I'm a gun toting cowboy from texas, who if it was legal, would haul a 12 gauge shotgun around in the back of my jeep.

A 12 gauge shotgun is illegal?

Not that I know loads about guns.

It is probably better that guns are largely prohibited here simply so I do not end up embarassing myself trying to use the things!

Bro. Matthew,

I remember the 1st time I ever shot a shotgun. Oh me, what a mess! This literally happened! It was an old Harrington & Richardson single-shot 20-gauge, & I got ear-plugs, & a couch-pillow, yes a couch pillow for my arm to absorb the kick! Now, I truly enjoy firing a 12-gauge. Unfortunately i live in the city now, & don't get the opportunity to get out in the woods & enjoy them anymore. It was a great hobby.

I dare say it is fun.

You are allowed to own shotguns over here.

The 12 gauge is legal, an underage driver such as myself carrying it around, thats illegal.

Right.

Would you carry a gun if you could then, Matthew?

If I felt I was at risk, yes.

More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun-Control Laws by John R. Lott Jr.

Gun control has done wonders for great American cities like Chicago and Washington, DC which continue to lead the United States in violent crime. Not coincidentally the states with the least gun control have among the lowest crime rates.

Though, American has more restrictions than I care for, the gun laws in the United States certainly beat the nefarious gun control laws of Great Britain.
