Shoes Off at the Door, Please: Shoes-Off in Churches?

Shoes Off at the Door, Please: Shoes-Off in Churches?

I think elderly people would very likely feel uncomfortable about removing shoes in church -- to the point where quite a few would stay home. This would be a very sad thing. It doesn't seem right to say that because 'most' people in a church are young, the feelings of the older people who attend shouldn't be considered.
I picture church foyers filled with row upon row of neatly paired shoes -- and the pandemonium after every service, when people sought to be reunited with their pair.
When I was a student, I often walked quite a long way to church. I would definitely not have wanted to take them off at the door, particularly not in summer!
