Charles Clarke has been Sacked

The home secretary, Charles Clarke has been sacked. His failure to ensure the deportation of foreign prisoners is evidently going to take the blame for Labour's disastrous results in the local elections yesterday. He was offered a lesser minsterial job, but he refused it.

He is being replaced by John Reid, who is getting round to occupying every ministerial job there is.

Do you think Blair will last long?

Well, we know he is going to resign before the next general election.

It is pretty certain that he will resign some time this year.

It's like watching Alan Rickman stretching it out and hamming it up in his death scene in Robin Hood: Prince of thieves.

I dare say. It is a long time since I have seen that film.
